Turning Around At Risk Girls

Turning Around At Risk Girls

Often society’s portrayal of what is acceptable for our young black girls entails negative stereotypes that many are too eager to adopt.  Music and the media have girls desiring to be sex symbols who have salty tounges before considering to be an intelligent professional.  How do we instead get our at risk girls on track to a positive and empowering life experience?  We do it by genuinely showing concern and care.

Empowering young women is part of the SIS mission, and we honor those organizations who have taken this task as well.  We know, it takes a village.   How do you empower young women to live their lives with purpose?  Blog about it here.

Jessica Ballew, Chief Empowerment Officer of J.E.S.S.I.C.A Cares, believes in empowering young women one positive thought at a time.  Her name’s acronym stands for Journey to becoming an Extraordinary, Strong, Successful, Individual with Courageous Aspirations.
